Cricket at Lords Year 6

This year, the ICC is the 12th edition of the Cricket World Cup, being hosted by England and Wales from 30th May to 14th July 2019. Here at Minet Junior School, we have many children that are passionate supporters of different worldwide teams so we wanted to make this year extra special for them.

At the beginning of the Summer Term, cricket coaches from Middlesex Cricket Club came to visit year 4 children for an entire day of cricket fun! They were promoting their very own cricket clubs – All Stars! Providing the children with information about how they could become part of a cricket club themselves.

Each year 4 class was also given the opportunity to have an hours training session with the coaches, focusing on developing their batting and bowling skills. This term, year 6 visited Lord’s Cricket Ground to watch Middlesex CC play Sussex CC on day three of the Specsavers County Cup. On arrival, the children were greeted by some of the players and led to their seats in the stadium, where they later cheered on their county. They took part in cricket games and coaching led by Middlesex coaches, as well as taking part in a selfie competition, posing with cricket players, trophies, mascots and statues

The children really enjoyed themselves and in good old British fashion it rained all day, but it didn’t ruin the day! A special thanks to Mrs Culverhouse and Miss James for going with the children. Below are some reports  from the children about their day and some pictures.
