On Thursday 6th May, Year 5 took part in an online workshop, organized by London Fire Brigade, about fire safety.
The Fire Officer introduced a range of issues to the children who were able to participate in a class discussion throughout the presentation.
The Officer explained how fires happen, and how we can take steps to prevent them - whether that's by cooking safely, never playing with lighters or matches, or ensuring that mobile phones are not left to charge overnight. It was explained that fire kills, destroys homes and spreads quickly. The children learnt that smoke can be as dangerous as fire, how smoke alarms work and how to make sure that they are working properly.
The children thoroughly enjoyed the session and asked lots of valuable questions.
