Environmental Review & Our Action Plan
As part of our Eco-Schools journey, our Eco Warriors completed an Environmental Review to evaluate how environmentally friendly our school currently is. This review helped us to explore different areas of school life, including our daily practices and school environment, linked to the Eco-Schools topics.
By working together, the Eco-Committee identified our strengths and areas for improvement, which will guide our future actions and help us to make meaningful changes.

Key Findings from the Environmental Review
The Environmental Review provided a clear overview of the school’s current environmental strengths and areas for development.
Strengths:
- Strong promotion of healthy living, including fruit provision, plant-based options, and curriculum links.
- Good provision for sustainable transport, including active travel initiatives and infrastructure.
- Improvements in energy efficiency through building redevelopment, including solar panels and motion sensor lighting.
- Positive pupil engagement in charity and community support activities.
Areas for Development:
- Energy waste: Lights, screens, and heating are often left on unnecessarily despite efficient systems.
- Water waste: Lack of awareness and misuse of water (e.g. taps and fountains) identified as a concern.
- Litter and waste management: Incorrect waste sorting and littering remain ongoing issues.
- Waste systems: Limited recycling practices and lack of clear systems across the school.
- Biodiversity: Very limited provision due to restricted access to outdoor areas.
- Global environmental awareness: Limited focus on wider environmental issues such as climate change and sustainability.
The Environmental Review conducted by the Eco-Committee is available to view below.
Agreed Priorities for Action
Based on these findings, the Eco-Committee, in consultation with SLT, agreed to focus on three key areas:
- Water waste
- Energy waste
- Littering
An action plan has been developed focusing on reducing water waste, energy waste, and littering. This action plan will be available to view on this page once completed, along with evidence of the actions taken and their impact across the school.
