Year 5 Cultural Week

As part of a vibrant Cultural Week in school, the Year 5 children enthusiastically participated in a high-energy Bhangra Dance Workshop. The session began with an introduction to the dance’s origins in Punjab, India, where it was traditionally performed to celebrate the spring harvest festival, Vaisakhi. Led by expert instructors who broke down complex movements into bite-sized steps, the students learned iconic techniques such as high-energy, rhythmic movements characterised by a deep knee bounce, energetic shoulder shrugs and lively arm gestures. The workshop culminated in a joyous group performance, where the children showcased their new skills, fostering a sense of teamwork and a deeper appreciation for South Asian heritage.
