The school opened in 1957, situated close to Hayes Town, with ample play space for the children. We have 10 classrooms in the main block, with an ICT suite, staffroom and a number of converted smaller teaching areas. This building has 2 levels and has an access lift to the first floor. The smaller teaching spaces provide specialist rooms for special needs. The main building also has a welfare room, administration rooms and a multi use hall (PE, assemblies and dining).
Outside there are 2 playgrounds with games marked out on the floor. We also have a polytunnel and 2 playing fields. There is a new building block containing a library, meetings room, kitchen and a staff PPA room. Further classes are based in a terrapin building (4 classes) and a mobile classroom (2 classes). Developments from a variety of initiatives have been funded through links with the LA (Garden Project), the HCT (Hillingdon Community Trust) and our PTA.
Minet Junior School is an LA (London borough of Hillingdon) Community School with 4 form entry. We are very proud of our diverse, multicultural population in terms of families, governors and staff. We see ourselves as a 'community' school in all senses and are committed to work with external agencies, other schools and our local community. We are part of the Yeading Cluster Group of schools and participate in projects such as WE schools.
The school follows the National Curriculum and we are keen to take on new projects, initiatives and interventions that will support raising standards and promote any area of pupil development. The school has achieved the Quality Skills Mark, PE Bronze award, Primary Science Quality mark, P4C Bronze award, Eco-Schools Bronze award and Healthy Schools London award. We are also working with NACE to challenge our more able pupils.
