Year 3 The role of Police Officers Workshop

A police officer visited Year 3 today to discuss the role of police officers. The visit aimed to give the children a better understanding of the responsibilities and duties of police officers in the community. The officer explained various aspects of their job, including maintaining public safety, preventing and investigating crimes and helping those in need. The children had the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about how police officers work to keep everyone safe. The children also participated in a group work activity in which they were shown various situations and their knowledge of how safe or unsafe these circumstances are was tested. The officer discussed with them what makes various scenarios and situations safe or unsafe. These included scenarios involving online activity and interactions with strangers. The children especially enjoyed learning the 'No, Go, Yell, Tell' method for remembering how to deal with tricky strangers, consolidating their learning from the PSHE unit on relationships.
