  • Year 3 and 4 Dental Workshop

    On Tuesday October 31st , Year 4 had an exciting workshop from an NHS dentist, who spoke to the children about their oral hygiene. The children learnt about how much sugar is contained in different foods, making healthy choices for their snacks and meals, and the impact of a high sugar diet on teeth. The session also included hands-on practice on how to brush their teeth using interactive models, and the children were shown the consequences of not managing to do so!

    They also had the opportunity to have their questions answered.

  • Year 6 Half Term Project

    This term, Year 6 will be learning about WW2 and over the half term, they were tasked with a mini research project. Children could make WW2 models, complete research about evacuation, write poems and create posters. The children took on this task with great enthusiasm and created some lovely pieces.

  • Year 4 visit Ufton Court

    Year 4 had an amazing opportunity to learn more about the Romans on their trip to Ufton Court! Throughout the day, the children were able to experience what it was like to be a Roman soldier training for battle, master their skills in threading and spinning wool to make warm clothing, discover how to spark a fire with flint stones and learn how to build a wooden fence using bamboo sticks and a specific type of weaving technique. The children were also able to explore and investigate various artefacts used during Roman Britain, some of which are still around today, like soap, notebooks and a colander!

     

     

     

  • Year 6 Visit

    As part of our learning in RE about Islam, Year 6 went to the local Hayes Muslim Centre on Monday 16th October. The children watched the Imam demonstrate the various calls to prayer and learnt more about the meaning of the 5 pillars of Islam. During the visit, volunteers from the centre also gave tours and the children were able to see the different parts of the centre: The sisters' hall, the washing area and the different resources available about Islam. Before leaving Hayes Muslim Centre, the children received a goody bag of fruit as an act of kindness.

  • Netball

    This week in Netball the team played incredibly well and displayed a great deal of resilience, determination and reflectiveness. The final scores were 2 – 0 to Botwell and 5 – 0 to Dr Tripletts. The team should be incredibly proud of their performance. They received praise from several people on how well they played and how much progress they have made.

  • TfL Stars Gold Award

    The school achieved the TfL Stars Gold Award this term. Children completed a number of different travel activities including devising a school active travel policy, art competitions, attended theatre productions on road safety, car sharing promotions, pedestrian training, bikeability and surveys (to name a few). Parents also signed a parking pledge.

    On Wednesday, the Year 6 football team played a match against Lake Farm. It was a very competitive match and the team played incredibly well against a tough competitor.  The final result was 1 – 0 to Lake Farm.

  • Year 4 Beep Beep Day!

    Year 4 had an exciting day during Beep Beep Day! Higgins visited the school and engaged with the children, providing valuable lessons on road safety. The students gained knowledge about various types of crossings, safe road crossing procedures, and the potential risks involved. Additionally, Year 4 had the chance to sit in a lorry and understand the hazards pedestrians face when near different types of vehicles.

  • Netball

    On Thursday, the netball team took part in another mini tournament against Dr Tripletts and Botwell. Again, the whole team displayed incredible determination and sportsmanship! In the match against Botwell the girls won 3 – 1 and against Dr Tripletts the teams drew 1 – 1, which is a fantastic achievement. Again, the girls did a wonderful job of representing themselves and the school and we thank them greatly for their efforts!
